For some inexplicable reason, I’ve never made an effort to check out Sculpture by the Sea before now. Despite the exhibition being in its twenty-first year already (that’s almost as old as I am!) the timing always means that things are usually too hectic for a trip to the seaside. Anyway, this year was the year I finally decided to change things up! Despite fretting about the possibility of weekend congestion, I actually didn’t find the amount of people too bad. And this is coming from someone who hates crowds…
We decided to start at Tamarama Beach, taking our sweet time with the walk to Bondi. I really regretted not bringing my swimmers at this point… it was a super hot day, and the water looked even more inviting than usual!
A pair of ghostly surfers in the middle of the walk. It was pretty fun seeing this sculpture from all different angles!
Just your stock standard photo in front of the ocean. FYI, it was way too hot to be wearing a long-sleeved shirt that day…
Like most other people, that hamburger sculpture had to be my favourite! It totally reminded me of those gummy candies shaped like burgers. The ‘human bait’ was actually connected to a rope that led straight to the ocean, which I thought was pretty funny.
Aaand then I was back at Bondi again. Anyway, just so you know this will probably be the last you hear from me in awhile. It’s a bit sudden, but I’m actually flying out to Laos and Thailand to visit family! It’s been over ten years since my last visit, so to say I’m excited would be an understatement. Hope you’re having a fine weekend, and I’ll see you on the flip side!
