five summer outfits

Finally, another long Australian summer is coming to an end. Or at least, it should be soon! While we still have weeks of hot weather ahead of us, I’m already excited for my favourite season, autumn to arrive. Wearing breezy dresses and mini skirts has been fun and all, but we all know the colder months are when we can really start dressing properly. Cosy jumpers, giant scarves and clunky boots? I’m totally into it, and can’t wait to change my style accordingly.

Anyway, I thought I’d share what I’ve been wearing lately since it’s been awhile. Surprisingly, a lot of thrifted and altered pieces made their way into my outfits this time around! Read on to find out more about them:

Thrifted Sunny Girl dress, secondhand denim jacket, Superga sneakers

When I first bought this dress, it actually sat unloved in my closet for the longest time. Even though I adored the print, the neckline was on the revealing side so I just never wore it. But now that I’ve altered the dress it fits perfectly, and I really wish I’d done it sooner! Despite being perfect on its own it’s also great with a denim jacket, aka my go-to coverup in the warmer months.

Regatta gingham shirt, skirt from Korea, Superga sneakers

Simple and classic, just the way I like it. This top is one of my favourites and I’ve had it for years, but gingham never seems to go out of style so I’ve always held on to it. The only thing I don’t love is the fact that I have to roll up the sleeves! I can never get them to a) look right or b) stay put for long. If anyone happens to have tips for rolling up those pesky sleeves, definitely let me know!

Thrifted shirt, secondhand skirt, Superga sneakers

Once again, this outfit is full of thrifty finds! The skirt actually used to be full-length, but I knew a hem job would make it more wearable in the summertime. When paired with a sheer floral blouse, it makes an easy outfit combo, and happens to be one I wear a lot.

H&M t-shirt, secondhand skirts, Regatta sandals

Same outfit, but with two skirts! I find myself reaching for midi numbers when it’s windy outside, for obvious reasons. Not to mention, I love the swishy feeling that comes with wearing a longer skirt. Anyway, believe it or not both of these finds are hand me downs from Mum! When paired with a basic tee and sandals, this look’s a no-brainer.

Uniqlo shirt, secondhand skirt, Superga sneakers

An easy, breezy outfit, and probably my favourite of the bunch! My only gripe with this shirt is that the fabric wrinkles like crazy. Otherwise, it makes a pretty versatile piece in my wardrobe. And once again, I’m wearing yet another skirt I altered myself. The original was quite tragic – it hit at an awkward length, and really looked like a relic of the early 2000s. I’ve always wanted a denim skirt with a clean hem, so I was pretty pleased with how this one turned out!

And of course, I’m never without my trusty Supergas, which are dirty from being worn so much! I gave up on keeping them pristine a long time ago, but I can’t bear to throw them out just yet. After all, they’re comfy, lightweight, and pretty much go with everything. What more can I ask for in a shoe?
